My name is Craig Volpe, and I have been documenting weddings across the United States for over a decade. While I sometimes shoot events, portraits, and commercial assignments, my specialty is documenting weddings. I have a unique approach of integrating into weddings in a very low-key way and capturing moments as they happen rather than relying on posing or setting up shots. This results in photos that have a very real, heartfelt authenticity to them and also allows the wedding party and guests more time to enjoy the wedding rather than taking time out to do photos.

Weddings are one of the most memorable events of people's life, and I love that I get to make a record of those memories for them to cherish for the rest of their life. While I've enjoyed almost every wedding I've documented, my favorite weddings have been the ones where the wedding couple invites me to stay with them or their family for anywhere from 2-5 days and not only document the wedding itself but also the events leading up to it, afterwards, and all the quiet little moments in between that most people don’t get to witness.

While I've heard people describe me as a cultural anthropologist with a camera, the thing I hear most often about my work is "looking at the photos made me feel like I was there". To me, that's the highest compliment a wedding photographer could ever get. You can see some recent weddings I've shot here: http://2ndsunphoto.smugmug.com
